Should I buy my dress first?

This may not seem like a big thing pertaining to your hair and makeup BUT the dress is the focal point of your look, and that helps us determine your Bridal Style! So many elements are decided based on your dress. Is the style of your dress classic, romantic, boho, simple, sleek, cinderella, etc? So deciding things like, “Should I wear my hair up or down?”, “Do I want sleek, elegant, boho, tousled?”  Are you a super glamorous bride or more of a simple bride? The dress you have chosen helps us to answer all of these questions! Please feel free to show us pictures of the dress and different looks you’re inspired by!

Do I need a bridal trial and why?

Yes, we suggest one and for many many reasons! Most of our brides have an idea in mind for their hair or makeup and having a professional guide you before the big day by helping you choose what style and colors fits your aesthetic, face shape, skin tone, and hair type is beneficial . You may need extensions for the updo your dreaming of. If you’ve chosen to wear your hair down, consider how your hair holds curl and in varying weather. How much volume do you like in your style? When considering different makeup looks, do you prefer natural, natural glam, or full on glam? These terms can be interpreted differently. Having a trial helps us to determine if the color scheme works for you as well as a particular hairstyle.

Communication is key when discussing what you desire. By talking openly and honestly about your beauty likes and dislikes, we can better serve you. Have pictures, ask questions, and most importantly remember this is about YOU! Our job is to make you look and feel like the leading lady of YOUR story!

When should I schedule my trial?

If you are not scheduling your trial to coincide with your bridal portraits or engagement shoot we recommend 4-6 weeks prior to your wedding day. We encourage you to have reference pictures and to take plenty of pictures. We will also take pictures of the finished look. We use these pictures so that we can reference back to them on your wedding day and it also helps you to look back and make any decisions on changes you would like to make.

What is the difference between airbrush and traditional? And which one should I do?

AIRBRUSH

A light-weight makeup applied through an air gun machine that produces a thin, even layer of makeup and creates a very matte finish.

The fine mist of color covers the skin and gives the appearance of a flawless complexion. Your MUA will mix foundation colors for a perfect blend to match your skin tone. Since it’s such a fine mist, your true skin tone shows through which makes it look more natural and not so much caked on. It will not transfer onto clothing and looks amazing in professional photographs! Airbrush makeup is water resistant and provides a long-lasting photo finish set.

TRADITIONAL MAKEUP

A liquid, cream, or pressed powder that is usually applied with a brush or sponge. Traditional makeup comes in the widest variety of any other makeup, with every shade available. It’s also the most versatile of all the makeup; it can be as basic as a sheer tint of coverage, or combined with other properties to create a makeup that targets specific problems. Traditional makeup can also be waterproof and transfer resistant (with the correct products are used, and finished with a setting spray.) Discuss what is best for you with your artist.

The Lucky Bridal Broach

Calling all soon-to-be brides out there! This broach has brought luck to at least 8 brides...Could you be next?

Backstory

Letting go of your “roaring” 20’s can be one of the hardest things for some women. There are so many things each of us want to accomplish by the time we’re 30, whether that be travel and a thriving career or marriage and a family of our own. We create this “ideal life” in our own head and when it doesn't look like that idea is becoming our reality, we get down and think we’ve wasted a decade.

Women deal with turning 30 different ways, but for me it was really really hard because I knew that I was called to do so much more, but I didn’t know what...so I was in this weird limbo.
— Marsi Hubbard

Side note: Ladies, this is why surrounding yourself with genuine, uplifting friends is so important. They know when you really need encouragement and will do whatever they can to make you feel amazing!

In Marsi’s case, her girlfriends put together an amazing birthday celebration. She wore a little black dress that included a deep V and gathered at the bottom by the broach and for some reason, after that incredible night, she felt that broach brought her luck. However, no one anticipated what luck it would bring to so many brides!

The Chronicles of The Traveling Broach

2008 to 2010

  • Lubbock, Texas is where the broach went on the first adventure. A bridal party came in to get their hair styled by Marsi and the bride mentioned that the florist didn’t come through with the flowers. The bride was worried about not having something in her hair to tie it all together.

  • Marsi married her husband Matt and wore it in her hair at her own wedding. They’ve been going strong for 10 years and counting!

I said, ‘you know what, this broach would be perfect in your hair.’..It was hard for part of me to give up my lucky broach, but I thought it would bless her life and was a great way to start her marriage.

— Marsi Hubbard

2010 to 2013

  • Marsi’s best friend Stephanie wore it in her hair at her own wedding two weeks later!

  • A client of Marsi’s wears the broach in her hair.

  • The Broach travels to Austin to do a wedding for a friend and she wore it on the back of her dress where it gathered.

  • Another client and friend, Erika, wears it in her dress.

  • The Broach travels once again, this time to ITALY for Stephanie's sister's wedding. (This broach is more well traveled than some people.)

2013 to 2014

  • The Broach is taken to Maui (yes, Hawaii) for another friend to wear on the inside of her dress as something borrowed.

FIY, ALL of these couples are still together and going strong!

More than a Broach

However, it’s not just about the luck this broach brings beautiful brides. It symbolized so much more than that. The first time it was borrowed was because Marsi wanted to ensure her bride felt her most beautiful on her most special day, no matter the cost.

That is what Brite Beauty ALWAYS strives to do. Whether it’s your big day, a gala or maybe you just stop by one of our pop-ups in DFW, it’s our job to ensure you feel like the most beautiful and confident woman you truly are!

One of the coolest things about what we do is getting to be a helper in those magnificent moments...so often makeup artists and hairdressers do what I did in their own way. We never want it to just be an online transaction, it’s personal and that’s the best part.
— Marsi Hubbard

Fast forward to today and it has been 6 years since The Broach was worn, so you could say it’s going through a dry spell and on the lookout for the next lucky bride!

Could that be you? If you’re newly engaged, book Brite Beauty for your wedding festivities and you could be next!
