Beauty for Your Happily Ever After - Brite Beauty

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Marsi Hubbard, founder of Brite Beauty, located in Dallas, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Brite Beauty offers at-your-service, experiential hair and makeup for brides and busy women. We bring the inner beauty out, helping our clients take the leading role for all their red-carpet moments.

Tell us about yourself

I have worked in the beauty business for over twenty-five years as a licensed hairstylist, beginning at the age of 18. I have personally done the hair of hundreds of brides over the course of my career. While planning my own wedding, I fell in love with all things bridal. I started Brite Beauty in 2018 after seeing a need to connect brides and busy professionals with qualified, reliable hair and makeup artists who could offer world-class service at a proper price. These days I spend most of my time building and scaling the company, focusing on growth, which is fulfilling and fun too!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating a business that has served so many in such a short amount of time. Since our opening four years ago, our team has grown to 40 artists, five full-time and part-time administrative employees, and we have experienced a growth rate of 1,150%. Brite Beauty’s dedication to excellent work and an engaging experience is reflective in our glowing reviews and recommendations. Thousands of happy customers make the team happy!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Remembering that gold is hidden within each failure or challenge. Life provides all of us with various challenges and opportunities to learn through mistakes. If a person allows it, the best lessons reside there, amongst the hardship. Any entrepreneur desires to do well for those they serve; therefore, when ultimate failure is not an option, you keep going. You get knocked down, and you get back up, learning what you need to learn in order to do it better next time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Jump off the cliff and build wings on your way down. Before you do, start with #3 below.

Delight your customer. Listen to your customers and team. Get their honest feedback. Always be looking for ways to improve. Live under the golden rule: treat others as you would want to be treated. Think, Test, and Assess to create a wonderful experience for your customers continually.

Commit to the Commitment. There will be excruciatingly difficult moments. If you are not completely committed to your vision and your why, you will never make it. Stay the course and keep your vision in front of you. There are other moments that come, and you feel as if you are on top of the world. Enjoy those days, yet do not get distracted from your main objective and vision at that time either. It all comes down to committing to the commitment.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I feel so grateful to have the opportunity to create something magnificent, connect with wonderful people while doing so, and inspire others to serve and use their gifts and talents to contribute as well! Beauty is such a great space and having the chance to take part in and bless a couple on their wedding day is so incredibly rewarding.
